CARBONDALE - Howie Mandel's performance set for Nov. 11 in Carbondale has been canceled.
Representatives of Southern Lights Entertainment, who were scheduled to bring Mandel - comedian, actor and host of popular television game show "Deal or No Deal" - to Shryock Auditorium at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, announced the show was canceled because of a conflicting schedule for the performer's new book tour.
"We were really excited about the possibility of bringing such a popular entertainer to Southern Illinois, but unfortunately there was a last minute scheduling conflict with his book tour that couldn't be overcome," said Bryan Rives, director of SIU Event Services, which helps facilitate Southern Lights Entertainment.
Officials were unable to reschedule a performance for later this year. Rives hopes to bring Mandel to the region some time in 2010, he said.
People who purchased tickets with a credit card will be automatically refunded on those cards. Rives urged people to retain their tickets until the refund is credited to their accounts. People who purchased by cash or check should contact the SIU Event Services Box Office at 618-453-6000.
