GOREVILLE - An early-evening fire Monday caused major damage to a rural Johnson County home.

Goreville and Lake of Egypt Fire Protection District firefighters were called at 6 p.m. to the residence of Keith and Sharon Holmes on Wolf Creek Road, about 10 miles northwest of Goreville.

Firefighter Brock Fischer said Tuesday about 16 crew members battled the blaze for three hours. He said it is believed the fire started in the attic, but that cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
