Officer jailed for allegedly trading cigarettes for sex

BENTON - A Franklin County correctional officer is on the other side of the bars today after his arrest for allegedly trading cigarettes for sexual favors from female inmates.

Scott E. McMurray, 27, Christopher, was picked up this morning after an investigation, Franklin County Sheriff Bill Wilson said. McMurray has been a correctional officer at the county jail since January 2007.

McMurray is charged with three counts of custodian sexual misconduct relating to three female inmates, Wilson said. He was taken into custody and transferred to Saline County Jail where he is being held on $75,000 bond.
