ST. LOUIS (AP) - An East St. Louis, Ill., woman is charged with submitting false information on voter registration cards, including turning in cards from nursing home residents without their knowledge.

The U.S. attorney's office says 44-year-old Deidra Humphrey worked for ACORN and the Missouri Progressive Vote Coalition last June through August.

A federal indictment says Humphrey submitted forged voter registration cards to elections officials in St. Louis city and county. It charges her with two felony counts of voter registration fraud.

A listed number couldn't be found for Humphrey, and it isn't clear if she has an attorney.

ProVote Missouri's Interim Director Joan Suarez says the organization fired Humphrey before becoming aware of the alleged false submissions. She says the organization fully cooperated with an FBI investigation into the matter.
