CARBONDALE - The Art Lovers Trading Company's First Friday will be anything but square when it presents Stephen Fessler's "The Shape of Things" at 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Art Lovers Gallery, Washington and Main streets.

Fessler's paintings take the shapes of walls, windows and signs found in the Carbondale area. The realistic oils and acrylics pay special attention to light and shadow while retaining the shape of their original source. His realistic still life work will also be on display.

The Erie, Pa. native graduated with a BFA from Ohio Wesleyan University and a MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Fessler moved to Carbondale in 2002 where he set up a studio. His work has been displayed nationally and internationally, including an exhibition at the American Ambassador's Residence in New Delhi, India.
