BY CALEB HALE, The Southern

MURPHYSBORO -- A Murphysboro man was arrested and charged with DUI and reckless driving after he allegedly drove through people’s yards late Tuesday, police said.

Troy Harris, 44, was taken into custody around 10:15 p.m. Officers found his vehicle stuck in wet grass in front of a residence owned by the Jackson County Housing Authority in the 1800 block of Apple Lane in Murphysboro, police said. The driver was reported to have driven through an undisclosed number of residential yards, according to the police report.

Harris posted bond at the Murphysboro Police Department and was released pending a court date.

" To madblogger; It is just you. If you compare the press every town/city gets, it looks like Murphysboro seems to put out more info. Remember a while back when Carbondale withheld the press on the police car shot? The media caught rumor of it and the city powers that be keep the info away from the press until called on it. And just so you know, this is not a slam at you becuase I always look forward to your comments! You are mostly "right on".

Believe me, Carbondale has it's share of crime. The problem is, if you publish every story, there wouldn't be room for anything else. "

Uhhh, how about just not drinking and driving?? "

That requires logical thought and common sense which most DUI offenders don't do very often. Now, he will have to blow every time he wants to drive and blow while driving. "

" Now that's pretty drunk..... when you can't even make it to the road.

Is it me, or does it seem that Murphysboro is in the paper quite a bit for crimes..... moreso than any other town in this area (even Carbondale). "
