MURPHSYBORO — A man alleged involved in a Wednesday shooting in Murphysboro was arrested Friday morning after Jackson County Deputies identified him during a traffic stop.
Kenneth Hale of Vergennes was arrested after police pulled him over on Illinois 127, near Ava road, just north of Murphysboro, about 10:45 p.m.
Hale was identified as the suspect in a shooting on Wednesday, around 4:45 p.m. on Roblee Street in Murphysboro.
An arrest warrant for Hale had been issued late Thursday in connection with the shooting, according to a release by the Murphysboro Police Department.
Bond was also preset for $500,000.
Hale was arrested without incident and transported to the Jackson County Jail on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Murphysboro police responded to the scene Wednesday after receiving a call for shots fire.
Upon arrival, law enforcement combed the area but nothing was turned up, Deputy Chief Tim Legere said in a previous interview.
It was later found out that a 27-year-old victim had been transported by personal vehicle to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale with gunshot wounds.
