" If this becomes an elected position, what will stop Bubba (that has no idea what is going on)from running for the job. Yes Dan Bost is at the head of this but he would not be doing it without big brother Mike's ok. Next we will be hearing from Ms. Pitman on how this is real important to the people. What is the current Assoser doing so bad that we need to change the whole system, I have not heard that yet? "

" Mr. Bost had a handout at a meeting with the name of the only other person that is qualified in the county to run or be appointed for this position. This person sent Mr. Bost information. Why is that? Also, if the petition has failed more than twice, maybe three times, doesn't that pretty much say most of Jackson County residents feel it should not change. To "truth": the other qualified person for this position in Jackson County is not one of MIKE BOST'S "cronies" this person is a democrat. Remember, this is DAN Bost pushing this. Not MIKE Bost. "

" A person must already be qualified to be appointed by the County Board for this position, or be qualified before you can run. The Illinois Department of Revenue sends out a list of those persons that have the qualifications. According to what was said in the meeting Mr. Jackson was in attendance at, there are only two people in all of Jackson county that are qualified. "

" I for one believe that the people should have their say by a vote. To many times a board could appoint someone and have control over them. This should be ran like any other office in Jackson County. Put it up for a vote and let the people have their say, maybe they prefer someone else.
What would it hurt? "

" That’s all the County needs is another Bost crony from M'boro being elected, but that’s about to change! This would not be an issue but certain Rep Mike Bost supports are being effected by the current Assessors rulings on property use and they are crying to old Mike Bost, thus we NOW have a problem! I don't believe we need local bubba or bubbette trying to decipher State law and regulations with no credentials. Maybe Dan Bost could start WORKING with the other board members and set up hiring criteria for the position as well as a protocol to solve differences between the Board and Assessor rulings! God forbid we have an independent nonbiased third party involved in Murphysboro politics! "

" What would this cost the taxpayers to have this put on the ballot? Is there a difference in the pay scale between an elected official and an appointed position. If the salary/retirement or anything else is more for the elected official, how much will this cost the taxpayers? What is the real benefit of elected over appointed. From what Mr. Jackson says, appointed is better. What is Mr. Bost's real motive for this? Isn't this either the third or fourth time he has tried to get the petition together? "

" I agree with Mr. Jackson. The general public does not know what this position entails. It's not a problem of having the people vote, it's a problem of voting without being educated and fully informed. "
