Businesses busted for selling alchol to minors

DU QUOIN - Employees at several businesses were cited for selling alcohol to minors as a result of a District 13 state police sting in May.

The district's Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement surveys were conducted at various establishments on the evening of May 14 in Williamson, Franklin and Perry counties, according to a report released by state police Friday. The surveys were to determine which businesses might be selling alcoholic beverages to people under the age of 21.

A total of 38 locations were surveyed in Marion, Christopher, Sesser, Zeigler, Buckner, Du Quoin and Tamaroa.

Employees involved in the sales were arrested for unlawful delivery of alcoholic liquor to a minor, a Class A misdemeanor. They were released on a notice to appear in court, the release said.

The following employees and businesses were involved in the sell of alcohol to minors, the release said: Tracy R. Heern, S.I. Pit Stop LLC, Marion; Roberta M. Plumlee, Buckner Rend Lake Motel, Buckner; Ashley D. Rice, Ten Pin Alley, Du Quoin; Fallon D. Cole, SLB Corp., Du Quoin; Debra A. Mulkins, Kroger, Du Quoin; Trent R. Tuthill, Alongi's, Du Quoin; Austin C. Lee, One Stop Smoke Shop and Liquor, Du Quoin; and Justin Tyler Pearson Sportland Liquors, Christopher.

All other businesses surveyed asked for identification and did not sell alcohol to minors.
