Three-car collision injures two

Two drivers were taken to local hospitals with major injuries after a three-car collision on Illinois 13 at Illinois 148 Wednesday afternoon, Illinois State Police District 13 reported.
Lisa Staggs, 40, of Royalton was westbound in an SUV on Illinois 13 around 2:10 p.m. when she went through the intersection and hit two vehicles. A car driven by Marvin Johnson, 47, of Murphysboro and minivan driven by Burke Shade, 50, of Carbondale were stopped in the eastbound passing lane on 13 when Staggs struck the Johnson vehicle head on and forced it into Shade’s minivan.
Staggs was wearing a seatbelt and was transported with major injuries to Herrin Hospital. Johnson was wearing his seatbelt and was transported with major injuries to Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, police said.
Shade and two passengers in his vehicle, Ruth Shade, 48, and Isaiah Shade, 24, both of Carbondale, were not injured.
Staggs was cited with improper lane usage and having no proof of insurance in her vehicle.
